We must reduce our vulnerability to terrorist acts as well.

09/11/01 World Trade Center Terrorist AttacksIn 1995, Oklahoma became a victim in the Murrah Federal Building Bombing. Oklahomans know first hand about the damage to persons, property and processes that can come from terrorism and manmade hazards.

Today, especially since 09/11/01, we know terrorism can be a real part of the world we live in.

Terrorism and manmade hazards have many forms: bombs, biological/chemical agents, radiological/nuclear devices, incendiary attack, armed attack, cyber- terrorism, agri-terrorism, hazardous material release, industrial accident and disruption of communication and utility distribution. These are just a few.

04/19/05 Murrah Building BombingThe event can be isolated, impact a large local area or be regional in nature.

The UCO Disaster Resistant University Mitigation Plan will review ways to sustain persons, property and processes in case of a terrorist attack. The process of planning, training and resource development to remain operational will be examined, even though there is damage or degradation to one or more of the these areas.

Not all planning material will be made publicly available due to the sensitive nature of some of the action steps necessary to address terrorism and manmade hazards.

To better protect you and your organization, practical tips can be found on the UCO DRU Links Page of this website.
